Why I make these

Stories With Me is a small family studio in New Hampshire. So much of childhood now happens on a screen, shaped by apps and algorithms built to hold a child’s attention. I wanted to make the opposite: something real your child can hold in their hands, open at the mailbox, and keep. The best mail I ever got as a kid had my name on it, and almost nothing does that for children anymore. A real person reads every letter before it’s mailed, your child’s photo is only used to paint them and then deleted, and if a letter doesn’t look like your child, we make it right.

What if it doesn’t look like my child?

A real person checks every painting before it prints. If the first letter doesn’t look like your child, we’ll paint it again and resend it, free.

What do you do with my child’s photo?

We use it only to paint your child, and we delete it within 30 days of the first letter printing. We never sell it or share it.

How soon does the first letter arrive?

On its way within two days of set-up, by regular mail. Allow one to two weeks for the post. After that, about once a month.

How much do I have to do?

About two minutes to set up: your child’s first name, one photo, and your address. After that the letters just arrive. When your child answers Puff, you scan the little square on the last page, type what they said, and add a photo of their drawing if they made one. Nothing to mail back.

Is there any screen time?

None. It’s real paper mail your child opens themselves. No app, no login.

What ages?

Written for 3 to 5. Plenty of 6-year-olds read it themselves.

What comes after six letters?

The next season: Bounce, a lopsided soccer ball who can’t roll straight and doesn’t mind. You’ll get to choose before it starts.
