One Brave First Step is a 24-page personalized hardcover picture book where your child is the illustrated hero. Their face, their name, their story.
Hazel sees the big slide. So tall, so slidy, so good. And Hazel wants to try. But at the top, something inside her chest starts to thump. With a little help from her mom, Hazel learns that the thump isn't something to fix. It's the brave feeling, and being brave means taking one little step with the thump still there.
This is a story about courage: not the absence of fear, but the ability to act alongside it. Research in child development shows that naming the heart-pounding "brave feeling" for what it is helps children try new things. We've turned that science into a story.
